About Dennis J. Toman
Dennis J. Toman is the founder and owner of the Elderlaw Firm, in Greensboro, North Carolina. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (BBS in Accounting, 1981) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Law School (J.D., 1984).
Mr. Toman is a Certified Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, and he also a Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law. He is the first lawyer in North Carolina to hold these dual specialties. He is co-author of The North Carolina Nursing Home Guide. Recently, Dennis joined ten other leading elder law attorneys from across the nation to co-author Protect Your Family! Don’t Write a Blank Check to the Nursing Home, a collaborative writing, broken down in layman’s terms, offering readers the essential tools and knowledge for effective long-term care planning. He also writes Elderlaw Today, a monthly publication for professionals and the aging community. Mr. Toman lectures frequently on Elder Law issues as well as the legal issues faced by families who have a loved one with Alzheimer’s. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the invitation-only Council of Advanced Practitioners of NAELA.
Dennis and his wife, Lynne, met in junior high although they didn’t date until after high school (his fault, not hers), and they have been married since 1981 with two sons, Austin and Kyle.
