After working as a public defender and for a large suburban law firm, in 1989, Bill decided to focus on estate planning and elder law as a positive way to help people define the legacy they want to leave. In 1996, he opened the doors at William M. Hansen Associates, PLLC, in order to hand-pick a team of caring, committed people offering high-quality legal services.

Bill is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas, Hamline University School of Law, and has his advanced tax degree, a Master of Laws in Taxation, from William Mitchell College of Law. In addition, Bill was designated a Certified Financial Planner™ in 2006. His professional memberships include the Minnesota State and Hennepin County Bar Associations, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), and the Financial Planning Association®.

Bill’s unique background in law, tax and financial planning issues enables him to see more than just the issue at hand – it enables him to see his client’s whole picture.
